Our friends live high on a hill on the edge of the Cevennes, close to Alès. Their house stands in 22 acres of Chestnut forest, which is sloping and terraced with dry stone walls. The house name is Mas du Diable or The Devil's Farmhouse of the Devil, it's certainly a devil to get to.

A 4WD is needed to reach the house, so we leave our car half way up and are collected and chauffeured the remaining 1.8km

The scenery is stunning and the house has many rooms and studios with a fantastic outlook.
